Krent Able Entretien de Rat Devil

In France, Krent Able made his debut in the the pages of AAARG magazine (RIP) in 2012, feeling right at home among the violence and dark cynicism of the mag. Hidden behing a name that is nothing more than “a collection of letters that look good in the Coca-Cola font”, he can let his wildest side run free. His style is a strange and burstling combination of sweet horror and revolting gore, mixing surrealism with the colorful pop imagery of the 80’s. As skillful with the pen as with his devastating bad taste, he has dabbled in music, publishing or movie-making — for an unashamedly weird artistic carrier.

Max Andersson

Entretien de Rat Devil

The comic world strives to break codes, kill borders, abolish standards. In these words, Max Andersson is one of his most faithful representatives. Introduced in France through the Association, which since 1997 publishes the works of this crazy Sweden, the man takes us by the hand and explores through its course the mazes of his universe. Mason of the dream, of the absurd, it wanders on the plains of an unknown territory and yet strangely familiar. It appears simple, whole, raw. It is only to better set up the world as an immense virgin canvas and project its strangeness. Between low temperature, high music, seductive indigestions and bitter humor, travel in a country where music is not always played where you are expected it.

  • Xavier, I wonder if by any chance you would know why Chiisakobe hasn’t been published in English yet. I know it was released in French, Spanish and that there’s even a German version on its way, but no sign of an English version, as far as I know.

  • Brilliant text, mister Moura. If I had read it at the time of its publication I should have quoted from it in my recent PhD in the arts, where I do treat the question of comics as a possible 'minor litterature', following Deleuze and Guattari on Kafka. https://sbastien-conard.squarespace.com/texts/ http://sebastienconard.be
